Overview

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek 6 days is the shortest and easiest trekking in Nepal. Also, popular as Annapurna sunrise trek; this trek is best suited for the trekkers having limited time and wish to see the Himalayas from the close range. The maximum altitude the trekker will gain during this trekking is 3,210 meters above the sea level at Poon Hill. The tea house type trekking; the Poon Hill route has well maintained local lodges with good facilities on foods and accommodations. The lodges even have the Wi-Fi, hot shower and the electricity to charge the gadgets.

Popular for the mountain views and the sunrise in the Himalayas; the trek offers the best views of Mount Annapurna range and Dhaulagiri mountain range. Dhaulagiri (8,167m.) the 7th highest mountain in the world and Annapurna I (8,091m.) the 10th highest mountain is the major peaks one can see during the trek. Next the beautiful peak of Macchapuchre aka Fishtail Mountain is another highlight of the trekking.

The beautiful local village of Ulleri, Ghorepani, Tadapani and Ghandruk adds the excitement on the trekking. Among them, the Ghandruk village is the best. Popular for the Gurung cultures and the typical local houses and the customs; Ghandruk village also offers the best views of Himalayas too. Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek can be done round the year. Although, the best time to trek to Poon Hill are the months of spring (March to May) and the days of autumn (September to November).

Trip Itinerary

After breakfast in the hotel, you will be picked up by your guide to starting your journey to Pokhara. The bus travel from Kathmandu to Pokhara will be of six to seven hours journey. There will be several breaks for the toilet and a lunch break will be taken as well. 

Upon your arrival in Pokhara, you will be transferred to the hotel. In the free time, you can walk around the famous Phewa Lake and also collect the super views of mountains and the sunset from the Phewa lakeside.

You will be picked up from the Pokhara hotel after breakfast. You will then take a scenic drive to Nayapul via famous mountain viewpoint of Sarangkot. Upon your arrival at Nayapul; your guide will do the permits check-in at the check post. From there; you will start your Ghorepani Poon Hill trek on foot.

The route from Nayapul to Ulleri is mostly gradual uphill via small villages of Hile, Sudhame, and Tikhedhunga. There is a steep stoned paved uphill just before Ulleri. From Ulleri, you can see a wonderful view of Annapurna South (7,219m.) on a clear day.

Get the great sunrise view at Annapurna South before breakfast. Then grab the superbly prepared breakfast. And the begin the trekking to Ghorepani. The route from Ulleri to Ghorepani goes through the dense rhododendron forest and with some beautiful waterfalls along the way.  

Do the permit check-in at Lower Ghorepani again before hiking twenty minutes more to get Ghorepani. At Ghorepani, you can enjoy the superb views of Annapurna South and Dhaulagiri range. The sunset also looks fantastic from Ghorepani.

Hike to Poon Hill to collect the best sunrise view. The viewpoint of Poon Hill offers the greatest views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Himalayan range. Poon Hill also has a view tower to collect the wonderful sunrise view at the Himalayas. After the sunrise, you will then get back to Ghorepani for breakfast. 

Then, the trek to Ghandruk begins. After about forty-five minutes walking; you will reach Deurali- which also offers the greater views of the mountains. The route goes through dense rhododendron forest to Tadapani. From Tadapani, you will take three hours more trekking to reach Ghandruk. Ghandruk is a beautiful Gurung settlement at the lap of the Himalayas. Explore the typical Nepali type village of Ghandruk.

Wake up with the wonderful mountain views. Then go and grab your delicious breakfast. The trek then starts descending towards Nayapul through Syauli Bazar via the Modi river bank. At Nayapul, your guide will do the final check out. Then catch your pre-arranged returning drive to Pokhara. 

Upon your arrival in Pokhara; you can either take a good rest in the hotel or can go around the beautiful city. For dinner; there are many good restaurants near the hotel. You can choose any of them for your preferred food.
